Premiere: Lamediscos ‘Pura Musica’
Lamediscos returns to Bogotá's A Breaking Concept label with five deep-in-the-rave weapons infusing tribal, breakbeat, hard drum and more
Lamediscos will release a new EP, ‘Tribalismo’, later this month via Bogotá's A Breaking Concept label. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Pura Musica’ below.
Described as “an ode to the primal need for belonging”, the project – out 22nd February – voyages through Latin dance music styles via five deep-in-the-rave weapons infusing tribal, breakbeat, hard drum, funk, and reggaeton. ‘Tribalismo’ finds a home on A Breaking Concept (A.B.C.) label, alongside the Colombian DJ and producer’s September LP, ‘Vanidad, Luces Y Mentira’.
The abrasive beats of that release remain, but like 2022’s ‘Breakbeat Special K’ EP, the rhythms frequently take groovy diversions. Opener ‘Total 90’ kicks off with hardgroove stylings and a tough four-on-the-floor kick before a strobing synth lead takes over, while on lead single ‘Pura Musica’, high-speed vocal samples and 90s-inspired rave lines are layered over a jacking breakbeat.
Founded in late 2022, A Breaking Concept has already amassed a small but mighty corpus of international releases, including a ‘RAVE FACTORY’ V.A. featuring artists from Bogotá, Mendoza, Moscow, and more, and DJ Bondiola’s Argentinian hard-bass EP, ‘PONYRKT’.
