Lucas Alexander will release his new EP, ‘Bad Boy Dubs’, this Friday. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.

The two-tracker signals a victory lap for the Welsh producer after a stacked year of releases, including a collab with Chicago ghetto house hero DJ Deeon for Nervous Records, and a return to Darrius Syrossian’s Moxy Muzik with the October single, ‘Dancing Dust’.

His newest EP arrives via his own Rarebit Records imprint — a launch pad for local Welsh talent — and boasts a double dose of glitched-out tech-house that refracts motifs from UK garage and jungle. On lead track, ‘Bad Boy Dubs’, Alexander enlists the help of Cardiff MC Local, who shells tongue-in-cheek bars over the cut’s swampy low-end pulses.

The dive-bombing basslines recommence on the flip as the producer pays homage to his Jamaican heritage. ‘Jungle Salute’ channels the seductive sizzle of the classic, breakbeat-driven mid-’90s jungle sound, serving up nose-scrunching breakdowns around a swung tech-house drum pattern, cementing Alexander as one of the most versatile figures in the Welsh club scene.

‘Bad Boy Dubs’ will be released on 15th December. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
