Premiere: Yokel ‘Born Sloppy’

Bristol’s Yokel will release a new EP, ‘Grockle Vision’, this month via NOODS Radio’s Dummy Hand label. Listen to ‘Born Sloppy’ below.

The Plaque label boss,  Avon Terror Corps affiliate and NOODS resident serves up six tracks of post-industrial skronk for the dancefloor. Stomping drums and crunching basslines lay concrete foundations for these cuts: tough greyscale canvases piled with playful rhythmic tics, EBM hooks and wriggly vocal samples. Moments of light creep through the gnarly cracks too, in the woozy synth motifs of ‘TKO’ and ‘Salaryman’, and the dark Italo flair of ‘Getaway Scene (Escape From Zoggs)’. ‘Born Sloppy’ jerks about with vintage electro pomp and, put simply, it’s irresistible. 

These tracks will work as well warming up a sun-scorched festival stage as they will a smoky, no-frills club. It’s another dusty gem from the experimental corner of Bristol’s DIY scene.
