Yak will release his new EP, ‘Dire Hit’, via Martyn’s 3024 records on 13th April.
The UK artist, who won in DJ Mag’s Best of British Breakthrough Producer category last year, debuted on the label in October 2018 with the murky percussive club cut, ‘Lucid Nightmare’. Two months later, the young artist stepped up with an EP of his own, ‘Rhodes Island’, which showcased his flair for febrile genre hybrids – fusing elements of UK techno, garage, d&b and jazz with an electrifying impact.
‘Dire Hit’ is another forward leap for Yak, as we find him darting between tempos and styles with an emphasis on jazzy rhythms and hazy atmospheres. The title track opens with spritely, syncopated drums, which give way to syrupy keys, wriggly bass weight and dizzy synth swells. Mellow, bouncy and irresistable. Check it out below,
