Ableton launches iOS app for forming musical ideas on the go, Note

Note incorporates instruments and devices from Ableton Live for turning sketches into songs

Ableton has launched its first iOS app for forming musical ideas on the go, Note.

Described as "a playable iOS app for forming musical ideas," Note incorporates instruments and devices from Ableton Live – including sythesizers and 56 drum sampler kits – for turning sketches into songs, which can then be exported as Live projects. Users can also create their own sound palette of recorded sounds with Note’s sampler.

"Note is a place to start ideas, experiment with sounds and find direction. As part of your regular music-making routine, it can help you hone the skill of starting or ease into a creative headspace at the start of a session," write Ableton.

Note is priced at 6.99 EUR / 5.99 USD/ 4.99 GBP and works on devices which support iOS 15 and above. Watch a demo video below and find out more from the Ableton site.

Earlier this year, Ableton co-founder Robert Henke spoke out about the environmental impact of vinyl manufacturing and his preference for 'fully embracing CDs' over vinyl.
