Watch Björk star in trailer for new Viking revenge film, The Northman

The movie arrives next spring

The trailer for the forthcoming Viking revenge film, 'The Northman', has been released, with a prominent appearance from Icelandic pop and electronic music icon Björk.

It's the first taste audiences have been given of the Robert Eggers movie, which is slated for theatrical release on 22nd April 2022. Set in the 10th Century, the plot follows a prince hellbent on avenging his father's death. Ethan Hawke, Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Willem Dafoe all star alongside Björk.

Production was delayed after being placed on hold due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic last year, but resumed in August. Björk's long-term collaborator, Sjón, co-wrote the screenplay alongside Eggers.

In October, Björk revealed her forthcoming tenth studio album was created for "people making clubs in their living room". No confirmed release date has been confirmed for the as-yet-untitled record. Last month, she finished a string of orchestral live stream concerts at Reykjavik's Harpa Concert Hall alongside the Hamrahlíð Choir, Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, and Viibra flute septet, in aid of a women's shelter.
