Bklava shares ‘Turn This Car Around’, from forthcoming mixtape, ‘c u l8r’: Listen
The mixtape, the first release on the London DJ and producer’s new label, is out on 5th July
Bklava has shared a brand new track, ‘Turn This Car Around’. Listen to it below.
Lifted from the forthcoming mixtape ‘c u l8r’, the new track draws on classic breakbeat rhythms, rattling basslines and the London-based DJ and producer’s own vocals.
In a statement, Bklava said: “‘Turn This Car Around’ definitely channels a lot of rage, musically and lyrically! In my experience, when society expects you to be nice and friendly at all times, anger can feel like something you have to tone down when it's actually a really normal and healthy emotion! Sometimes it’s damn necessary! I wanted to embody the power that comes with owning your anger and knowing it's validated when you're not being heard.
“It’s reminiscent of all the moments I've felt crazy and worked up for someone else’s wrong-doings – sometimes it takes a minute to realise your feelings are valid and justified, and you process negative emotions in a healthy way as a result.”
‘c u l8r’ is set for release on Friday, 5th July via Bklava’s own recently launched Spin Suga label. The artist first announced the mixtape in February of this year, decscribing it as “an homage to UK club culture”.
It features a number of new cuts by the producer, including the track ‘Make It Work’, which came out in October of last year.
