Boomtown Fair has grown into something of a revelation. In short, it’s a festival in Hampshire, UK where the organisers have painstakingly created nine distinctive districts across the three areas of the festival — HillTop, DownTown and Temple Valley.
Instead of just a load of faceless tents, each of BoomTown’s nine areas exudes its own back-story, cultural feel and theatrically-led experience — so the Barrio is a latino celebration, whilst Sector 6 is a power station commandeered by masked vigilantes.
Providing the soundtrack to this vast pop-up metropolis will be artists from almost every conceivable genre including ska, folk, gypsy, reggae, world, punk, pirate and disco to electro-swing, jazz, bluegrass, bass, jungle and techno.
Top of the bill for bass-aficionados for this year’s revolutionary-inspired Section 6 will be So Solid Crew, 2-step soldiers Sticky and Scott Garcia, performing as Foundation alongside Lady Chann, and UK luminaries Ms Dynamite, MJ Cole, DJ Zinc, Zed Bias & MC Trigga.
Elsewhere, the likes of AC Slater, Deadbeat UK, Hybrid Theory, GotSome, Chris Lorenzo, Diemantle, Kry Wolf, Melé and DJ Barely Legal will offer deeper, darker sounds of bassline and jacking house.
And the cherry on the top of just this one area will be jungle footwork dons Om Unit and Paul Woolford performing under his Special Request alias.
