Police appeal for whereabouts of man reported missing after attending Boomtown Fair
“If the public have any information, just please come forward. We just want them home safe”
West Midlands Police are appealing for information surrounding the whereabouts of a 31-year-old man from Birmingham, who has been reported missing after attending Boomtown Fair earlier this month.
As ITV reports, Cameron Crowhurst travelled to the South Downs in Hampshire for the festival last weekend but has not been seen since. West Midlands Police shared on Twitter yesterday (21st August) that they are becoming “increasingly concerned for his welfare” and are “continuing to appeal for information.”
Crowhurst arrived at the festival on Wednesday 9th August, but is known to have left a day early on the Saturday (12th) after losing his mobile phone. He was later picked up by local police on the M3 and taken to Basingstoke train station where he is believed to have travelled towards Bournemouth. His family, however, believe he may still be in the Winchester area.
Jacqueline Bird, his mother, told ITV: “I can’t see that he would have just gone off and wouldn’t have let us know, or not contacted us. We think he might have got back off the train at Winchester to go and try and find his property, his suitcases and maybe his phone which was lost. The last footage of him was him getting on a train at Basingstoke – which was the Bournemouth train.”
Crowhurst had previously been to Boomtown, but his family say it was the first time that he attended the festival on his own. “He was just so excited about it,” Jacqueline said. “When he got here, he called me and said that he'd arrived, and that he was just going in. He said that it was quite busy at that time.”
Jacqueline was in contact with Cameron on the Thursday of the festival, who “seemed fine, and himself just having a laugh and joke,” but assumes it was later that evening or the following morning that he lost his phone.
“I’ve been calling him every day to to contact me, and on the Monday morning, I was waiting for him to come home. He didn’t come home. On Tuesday morning, I called the festival, I called the police.”
Crowhurst's family have been putting up posters around Winchester city centre in the hope someone may recognise him, as well as urging anyone who was on the 19:11 train from Basingstoke to Bournemouth on Sunday 13th August to see if they can remember any details.
Crowhurst cousin, Jade Bird added: “If he is out there on the streets or in the forest, or you know, anywhere, he’s probably not had a bath or anything and he might be in a tent.”

Crowhurst is described as being 5 ft 9, with glasses, a beard and fair skin. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 999 and quote PID: 441705.
