Chicane releases orchestral version of classic trance album, ‘Far From The Maddening Crowds’: Listen

Chicane has released an orchestral rework of his 1997 debut album, 'Far From The Maddening Crowds'. Listen to the 'Symphony Rehearsals' version of the LP below.

English composer and producer Nick Bracegirdle enlisted New Order and Elbow collaborator Joe Duddell to score and conduct the symphonic reimagination of his classic trance album, performed by The Hallé and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Out today, 'Far From The Maddening Crowds (Symphony Rehearsals)' features 11 tracks to match the original LP's tracklist. The symphonic version of hit 'Offshore' was shared in early February.

"For nearly three decades, I’ve revisited this album, in each instance viewing it through a new lens," Chicane said in the press release. "We’ve been floating the concept of a refined, instrumental adaptation for some time now, and breathing this new, unfiltered life into these tracks has brought a whole new meaning to this body of work that I cherish so dearly."

In 2022, Chicane celebrated the 25th anniversary of his first album with an 'Evolution Mixes' edition.

Chicane's last albums of new material landed in 2023, with his ninth studio album, 'Nevertheless', and in 2021 with his eighth, 'Everything We Had To Leave Behind'.

Bracegirdle sat down with DJ Mag in 2021 to share how he created his most iconic trance single, 'Saltwater' — watch the video here. The 1997 classic track was remixed by Young Marco and covered by Courtesy and Lyra Prymuk last year.
