The church on the cover of The Chemical Brothers' 1998 album 'Brothers Gonna Work It Out' has been given protected status.

The Our Lady of Fatima church in Harlow, Essex, was granted a Grade II* listing by the government on the advice of Historic England to protect both its historic and architectural significance, as reported by the Guardian.

The modernist building, which adorns the front of the Chems' 1998 compilation, is notable for its reinforced concrete and tall needle spire.

Released a year after the Chemical Brothers second album 'Dig Your Own Hole', 'Brothers Gonna Work It Out' features mixes of various artist's work, including Spiritualized and Manic Street Preachers. According to the Guardian, its appearance on the cover of the album "was not a factor in upgrading the church’s protected status".

While the Chems haven't commented on the news via social media, they retweeted the Twitter post below by Historic England.

Earlier this month (August), The Chems announced a headline DJ set at Amnesia Ibiza in October. Last month, the duo announced details of their tenth album, 'For That Beautiful Feeling', which is out in September.

In June, The Chemical Brothers also announced details of their first official book, set for release on 26th October via White Rabbit. Paused in Cosmic Reflection is described as the “definitive story of The Chemical Brothers”, retrospectively spanning their 30-year career, told by both the duo and collaborators over the years.
