DJ Perplex shot dead in Mexico nightclub

A crowdfunding campaign has been started to have his body flown home...

Psytrance DJ Perplex has been murdered during a nightclub performance in the Mexican city of San Luis Potosí.

Early on Saturday morning (29th June) gunmen entered the nightclub, fatally shooting Perplex, real name Ronen Dahan, and one other person. At least three other people were wounded in the shooting.

The attorney general of San Luis Potosí shared in a statement that the gunmen had entered the city from the south, in cartel-related violence.

Dahan had released 13 albums during his career, working with artists such as Cutfather, Medina and September. The DJ was also one half of psytrance duo Pura Vida alongside Minimize, AKA Daniel Zitrin.

Fellow psytrance DJs Faders have started a crowdfunding campaign to have Dahan's body flown back to his native country of Israel.
