DJ Gigola announces debut album, ‘Fluid Meditations’
Awareness of the now, embodiment, unfolding egos, Goa and psytrance are running themes
DJ Gigola has announced her debut album, 'Fluid Meditations', which will land on Berlin-based imprint Live From Earth on 3rd February 2023. The first track, 'Gratitude Practice', is available now on Bandcamp, and you can watch the accompanying video below.
Focused on the act of combining meditation with dance, the record features spoken word 'guidance' by the artist with lyrics specifically focused on being aware of the now, embodiment and unfolding egos. Themes are dealt with in a chronological order, encouraging listeners to embrace new feelings and stages as the eight-tracks play out.
Instrumentally, the tracks are formed through a varied combination of styles and sounds, including several directly created by the human body itself. Breathing techniques and ASMR feature, alongside field recordings and low-pass frequencies. Those elements are juxtaposed with percussive details, and strong nods to Goa and psytrance.
Ahead of the record arriving, Gigola will debut the LP live as part of the 18th birthday celebrations at Berlin techno institution, Berghain.
