Jack Grealish makes DJ debut alongside Oliver Heldens: Watch
The Manchester City winger joined Heldens behind the decks in the metaverse
Premiership and England international footballer Jack Grealish made his DJ debut last night in partnership with Oliver Heldens. The event was hosted in the OKX virtual metaverse, using immersive Web3 technology.
The ‘Mixing in the Metaverse’ experience included a 15-minute set performed by "metahuman" avatars of Grealish and Heldens, after some coaching on the turntables. The concert-style experience saw Grealish and Heldens perform in a futuristic stadium built in the metaverse.
It comes just months after the footballer announced that he was teaching himself to DJ, telling BT Sport in an interview last October: “I’m trying to learn to DJ at the moment, ‘DJ Grealo’... People say DJing, once you get the hang of it, obviously it takes a lot of time, but it’s something you can really enjoy.”
The England national player also previously said that had it not been for his football career, he’d have taken up club promotion in Ibiza.
Sharing news of the unusual collaboration, Grealish tweeted: “@OliverHeldens and I are holding my first ever DJ set in the #OKXCollective metaverse."
The Manchester City star has expressed his excitement about working with the Dutch DJ: “The OKX Collective metaverse is unique and I’m honoured to share this special collab alongside a DJing legend like Oliver with fans from all over the world.”
OKX is the official training kit partner of Manchester City for the 2022/23 season. Alongside the collaborative event, fans can also gain access to special content, experiences, and rewards from some of their favourite Manchester City players.
