Berlin record store Hard Wax is relocating due to planned redevelopment at its current site.

After 27 years at its current site on Paul-Lincke-Ufer in Kreuzberg, the world-famous shop will up sticks to a new space within the Kraftwerk building on Köpenicker Str. 70, 10179 Berlin Mitte, which is also home to clubs Tresor and Ohm.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday (October 13th), Hard Wax announced the moving-in date as Monday 30th October. The building where the store operated for close to three decades is reportedly set to be turned into luxury flats.

Hard Wax first opened in 1989 on Reichenberger Strasse before settling on its Paul-Lincke-Ufer 44a location in 1996, in which the 28-year-old cutting house and mastering studio Dubplates & Mastering (D&M) was also located. Last year, Dubplates & Mastering announced that their Kreuzberg building had been sold and "the new owner terminated our lease after October 2023, and we are looking for a new place."
