Lila Tirando a Violeta & Sin Maldita have shared a video for their new single, ‘Idioglossia’, out today via Hyperdub. Watch the visual below.
The track will feature alongside lead single, ‘Accela’, on the duo’s forthcoming seven-track EP, ‘Viconian Cycles’. Arriving 13th October, the record follows critically acclaimed solo projects from both artists – including Tirando a Violeta’s ‘Desire Path’ from 2022 – while marking their joint Hyperdub debut.
The music video for ‘Idioglossia’ is directed by Felix Geen & Natalya Bashnyak, and features a bright-bursting light source interspersed with evolutionary visuals of morphing cells, planets, and human-like figures. Sonically, the single incorporates avant-pop with surreal and mind-bending sounds.
Described as being “informed and inspired by seemingly unconnected work”, the EP draws on the conceptual sound design of '90s cyberpunk anime Lain, as well as the dream-like themes of James Joyce’s experimental novel, Finnegan’s Wake.
The release follows Lila Tirando a Violeta’s signing to Hyperdub in April. “It’s been a decade of falling down and standing up again both regarding to my health condition and my music therefore to finally see this long time dream being accomplished makes me very proud and grateful with everyone who stood by my side,” she wrote on Instagram.
‘Viconian Cycles’ is available to pre-order in both digital and physical formats, alongside limited edition ‘Accela’ cassettes and an exclusive brass necklace in a pill box, inspired by the aforementioned cyberpunk anime ‘Lain’.
