London electronic music and arts venue IKLECTIK calls for support in opposing proposed development
Development plans would see the venue and other businesses demolished to make way for offices
The team behind London electronic music and contemporary arts venue IKLECTIK has called on its community to reach out to the Mayor's office and vocalise opposition to proposed development plans on its site.
The proposed development of Royal Street and Old Paradise Yard, the areas which house IKLECTIK and other businesses, would see five tower blocks built in order to create the largest single office development ever seen in the Lambeth area of London. It would mean that a number of spaces, including IKLECTIK, will be demolished and forced to close or move.
The team behind IKLECTIK say they have been given until January 2024 to continue putting on events, and then their future beyond that is uncertain. As the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has the power to overturn such developments, IKLECTIK is calling on people to voice their concerns in letters to the Mayor's office.

The statement from IKLECTIK follows a change.org petition launched last year, which saw over 40,000 people share their support for the venue.
