MJ Cole announces new album, drops first track, ‘Cathedral’: Listen

‘MJ Cole presents Madrugada’ lands 3rd April via Decca Records

MJ Cole has announced a new album and dropped the first track, ‘Cathedral'.

'MJ Cole Presents Madrugada' will arrive on 3rd April via Decca Records, with a debut live performance of the work set for EartH Hackney, London, on 29th April.

Recent months have seen a slew of high profile names such as Shanti Celeste dropping club mixes and playing unreleased singles by the producer, many of which are taken from this latest long form effort. Breaking from his usual party ready-yet-emotive fare, this offering finds roots in classical and piano ambience.

"I've made hundreds of records and had albums out before, but this record has always been brewing in the background. It’s been gestating my whole life, but the execution of it has been very quick. I really feel like a new artist," Cole said.

"This isn’t just me sitting down at the piano and writing something nice and ambient, I’m coming at it as a hardcore manipulator of sounds. You can hear my breath, you can hear the pedal, you can hear the piano as a living instrument. It’s all about expression. When I play the piano I go into a meditative state, other thoughts don't come into my head.”
