Palestinian DJ and videographer Nour is documenting the stories of refugees of the Nakba of 1948 and fundraising to build an interactive archival website to preserve their histories.

The Refugee Chronicles Interactive Map Project will present interviews with survivors of the historic expulsion and displacement of more than 750,000 Palestinians by Zionist militias and the Israeli army from 1947 to 1949 to establish the State of Israel. Nour Alsholi is crowdfunding via Kickstarter to support the development of the interactive website, planned to host clickable maps of testimonies and educational information, more interviews and video production, translations into multiple languages, and other expenses. The goal is set at nearly £21,800, with more than £6,000 raised so far.

"As the last generation of Nakba survivors, my mission is to keep their stories alive", Nour said in an Instagram post

The urgency for this project is predicated by the current crisis in Gaza, "referred to as the second Nakba", an Arabic term to mean "catastrophe", according to the Kickstarter. "As the world witnesses the unfolding distressing events in real-time, it becomes crucial to draw poignant parallels between the historical events of 1948 and the struggles faced by Palestinians today", the campaign reads. "These testimonials serve as a stark reminder that the wounds of the first Nakba are not confined to history but persistently shape the lived experiences of Palestinians today."

The Refugee Chronicles project has already interviewed more than 50 people throughout Jordan and Palestine. Some stories have been shared to the Refugee Chronicles Instagram
