Spotify is developing a lossless-quality premium tier

Spotify is prepping a new Hi-Fi-style membership tier, that includes all premium features, lossless CD quality audio and a discount on limited-edition vinyl.
According to Reddit, users of Spotify's Android app received a notification asking to upgrade to the lossless tier for an additional $7.50 a month — indicating the new subscription may have entered BETA testing.
It's an interesting business move from the Spotify team, and comes just days after SoundCloud announced the introduction of a mid-price SoundCloud Go+ subscription service for just $5.99.
With 40 million for-pay subscribers currently signed up to Spotify, even mobilising a small portion of users for the lossless upgrade could mean big bucks for the streaming giant.
