The Aussie-born, London-based DJ breaks down the process behind his 2020 Technicolour track
DJ BORING has given an online masterclass on the production of his 2020 track, ‘Like Water’, via Point Blank Music School.
The Melbourne-born, London-based artist, who currently makes up part of the roster at Ninja Tune, is a regular face on the capital's club circuit and beyond. Across 2022, the DJ joined promoters like Circoloco, Trick, FLY and LWE for parties in Ibiza, New York and San Francisco, and performed at festivals like Glasgow's Riverside, Union Libre in Paris, and Into the Woods.
‘Like Water’ is the title track of an EP he released via Technicolour in 2020. Speaking about it at the time, DJ BORING said that, although initially produced for live performance, he wanted the EP to be "more than club tracks and have a sense of fun to it”.
In his masterclass, DJ BORING dives into the process behind creating 'Like Water', explaining the personal themes behind the track, and how it evolved from a beat-less track to an extended, club-focused cut.
