Underground Resistance mini-documentary, Somewhere in Detroit, to be released this week

A new mini-documentary about legendary Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance and Submerge Records is out now.

The short film, Somewhere in Detroit: Underground Resistance, Submerge, Techno and the Detroit Way, is produced by electronic music instrument manufacturer Roland, and highlights the legendary collective, store and label, and honours their roles as Black originators in techno. It features candid interviews with "Mad" Mike Banks, Waajeed, DJ Etta and more members of the community. 

The Detroit Public Library hosted the hometown premiere of Somewhere in Detroit on Wednesday, 28th February, followed by a Q&A. Find more information about the free screening here.

In 2022, Underground Resistance released a series of new EPs by Wavejumpers, Mana De Fuego and Mike Ellison, plus a remastered reissue of Perception and Mike Banks' 2004 single, 'Windchime'. That same year, Waajeed released his 'Memoirs Of Hi-Tech Jazz' album on Tresor.
