In an interview with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 show this week, pop production polymath Diplo discussed his ever-turbulent relationship with EDM.
In telling Mac about his new EP ‘California’, which will find the producer veering away from his EDM palette, he admitted that both he and Calvin Harris were opportunistic when it came to adopting the immensely popular style when it was on the rise.
Diplo, Mø and GoldLink have performed live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week, and we've got the footage.
Movement Detroit has foregone the multiple waves of artist announcements for one mass drop. Diplo, Nina Kraviz, Helena Hauff, Claude VonStroke and Ellen Allien are among those supplying the grooves at Detroit’s Hart Plaza over the extended Memorial Day weekend.
Organized by Paxahau, which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2018, the festival will once again host an array of global electronic music talents across five stages. The Paxahau team have hinted at “new designs and elements” for the celebratory year.
Diplo was announced to perform at Movement Detroit yesterday, for the event which takes place from 26th to 28th May.
The news was followed by a number of people lamenting the booking at a festival with roots closesly associated to techno.
Last night, Diplo fired back at the critics stating that he has already appeared at the event in 2012 before poking fun at those "safe guarding America’s techno scene”.
He went on to jokingly say that his performance would be an alt-country set when asked what he will play. You can see a selection of the tweets below.
Major Lazer and Cashmere Cat’s hotly-anticipated collaboration — 'Miss You' alongside Canadian rapper Tory Lanez — is out now and you can hear it in full below.
The collaboration sees two of music’s biggest producers, namely Major Lazer and Cashmere Cat, joining forces for the first time.
The track was first played live last month at Art Basel where it kinda flew under the radar but you can watch footage of the track here.
Diplo— who will again hold down a residency this year at Nevada mega-venue and hotel, Wynn Las Vegas— has shared the video for his latest MØ collaboration, 'Get It Right', and by all accounts it's one of the most hilarious things you're likely to see this month. At least.
Cashmere Cat and Diplo have announced that their forthcoming collaboration, dubbed 'Miss You' featuring Tory Lanez, will be released next week.
The collab will see Major Lazer and the Norwegian super producer joining forces with Tory Lanez, who is a Canadian rapper who received major recognition from the mixtape 'Lost Cause' back in 2014.
The announcement was made via Cashmere Cat who shared a picture of himself and Diplo fooling around at a ice rink.
Both Mark Ronson and Diplo are no strangers to working with countless other artists — so it’ll come as no surprise that the two super producers have been in the studio together working on a new collaborative project called Silk City.
Understandably, details are still a bit thin on the ground but according to Pitchfork the duo have been working on a disco album together.
Major Lazer are giving away a brand-new track, ‘Go Dung’, featuring Trinidad and Tobago outfit Kes, as a free download via the group’s Soundcloud page.
The track follows hot on the heels of Major Lazer’s new documentary film, ‘Give Me The Future', which followed the trio in the lead up to their spontaneous 2016 concert in Cuba’s capital Havana which attracted over 500,000 people.
Diplo has finally confirmed that he and Skrillex will going into the studio together to work on new music and hopefully the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Skrillex and Diplo: Present Jack Ü’.
The bad news is they won’t be going into the studio together until Skrillex finishes his new album and Diplo finishes working on the new Major Lazer album.
During an interview with Argentinian La Nacion, Diplo said: “Skrillex is working on a new album. I think that after that and the new album that we are preparing with Major Lazer, we will make music together again.”
