Diplo: ‘Calvin Harris did EDM better than anyone else’
In an interview with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 show this week, pop production polymath Diplo discussed his ever-turbulent relationship with EDM.
In telling Mac about his new EP ‘California’, which will find the producer veering away from his EDM palette, he admitted that both he and Calvin Harris were opportunistic when it came to adopting the immensely popular style when it was on the rise.

Movement Detroit locks Diplo, Nina Kraviz, Helena Hauff, more
Movement Detroit has foregone the multiple waves of artist announcements for one mass drop. Diplo, Nina Kraviz, Helena Hauff, Claude VonStroke and Ellen Allien are among those supplying the grooves at Detroit’s Hart Plaza over the extended Memorial Day weekend.
Organized by Paxahau, which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2018, the festival will once again host an array of global electronic music talents across five stages. The Paxahau team have hinted at “new designs and elements” for the celebratory year.
Diplo: ‘I’m going to play an alt-country set at Movement Detroit’
Diplo was announced to perform at Movement Detroit yesterday, for the event which takes place from 26th to 28th May.
The news was followed by a number of people lamenting the booking at a festival with roots closesly associated to techno.
Last night, Diplo fired back at the critics stating that he has already appeared at the event in 2012 before poking fun at those "safe guarding America’s techno scene”.
He went on to jokingly say that his performance would be an alt-country set when asked what he will play. You can see a selection of the tweets below.

Diplo says a Major Lazer and Tory Lanez collaboration is on the way
Cashmere Cat and Diplo have announced that their forthcoming collaboration, dubbed 'Miss You' featuring Tory Lanez, will be released next week.
The collab will see Major Lazer and the Norwegian super producer joining forces with Tory Lanez, who is a Canadian rapper who received major recognition from the mixtape 'Lost Cause' back in 2014.
The announcement was made via Cashmere Cat who shared a picture of himself and Diplo fooling around at a ice rink.
Diplo is working on a new project with Mark Ronson called Silk City
Both Mark Ronson and Diplo are no strangers to working with countless other artists — so it’ll come as no surprise that the two super producers have been in the studio together working on a new collaborative project called Silk City.
Understandably, details are still a bit thin on the ground but according to Pitchfork the duo have been working on a disco album together.

Diplo finally confirms plans to start recording with Skrillex as Jack Ü again
Diplo has finally confirmed that he and Skrillex will going into the studio together to work on new music and hopefully the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Skrillex and Diplo: Present Jack Ü’.
The bad news is they won’t be going into the studio together until Skrillex finishes his new album and Diplo finishes working on the new Major Lazer album.
During an interview with Argentinian La Nacion, Diplo said: “Skrillex is working on a new album. I think that after that and the new album that we are preparing with Major Lazer, we will make music together again.”
