Calvin Harris sets the record for most number one hits in the UK this decade

Sam Smith collaboration 'Promises' broke the record...

Calvin Harris has set a new record for most number one hits in the UK this decade.

His most recent track — Sam Smith collaboration 'Promises' — has taken him to eight chart-topping tracks in the 2010s, more than anyone else recording music.

According to Official UK Charts, it's Harris' tenth No. 1 in his career, which is more than ABBA, Spice Girls, Rihanna and Eminem.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate the song's rise to the top of UK pop music, Harris wrote: "Promises is number 1 in UK!!!! Thank you so much  Buzzing you like it as much as I do. @samsmithworld what a blessing it is to be able to work with you. Thank you."

Speaking specifically about the record, he added: "Also they’re saying it’s my 10th number 1 but I count productions too so it’s my 14th  big upppp."

Despire recent comments that he feels "too old" for the music business these days, 34-year-old Harris joins a select few artists with double-digit No. 1s, including Madonna, The Beatles and reigning champion Elvis Presley (who has 21 chart-toppers to his name).
