SONIA AKOW DONOR DRIVE

Support popular dance music publicist

As we regrettably stated earlier this year, Push PR music publicist — and one half of the Botchit & Scarper act SOTO — Sonia Akow has been taken ill with leukaemia.

Since diagnosis, doctors have suggested that a bone marrow transplant will be the best hope for Sonia's survival.

It has come to Sonia's attention that people from black, Asian and other ethnic minority backgrounds are under-represented on the Anthony Nolan Trust's bone marrow donor register.

In the light of this realisation, Anthony Nolan, ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust) and Sonia have organised two stem-cell drives in west London to collate the much-needed stem cells for the safe recovery of Sonia and other people diagnosed with leukaemia from ethnic minority backgrounds.

The first drive will be held on Tuesday 26th February between 2pm – 8pm at Shepherd's Bar, Shepherds Bush, west London.

The second is to be held at The Tabernacle, Notting Hill on Saturday 2nd March between 11am – 5pm — also in west London.

If you're in or around London and can make it down to either of these dates, DJ Mag urges you to as it is a cause that relies on the good will of others — and we know that clubbers are the nicest people around!

If, however, you cannot make the drives and you are aged 16 – 30 you can join the Anthony Nolan register online HERE. If you are 31 – 49 you can sign up HERE.

DJ Mag's Carl Loben along with DJ Deekline and others are organising a benefit club-night called Push Play at The Egg in Kings Cross, London on Thursday 28th March. A hefty line-up is being assembled with three rooms of the best bass, drum & bass, dubstep and breaks involving the likes of Krafty Kuts, Shut Up & Dance, Dub Pistols and A-Skillz to name but a few. More names are tbc nearer the time.

We wish Sonia the best wishes for a safe and speedy recovery — see you on the dancefloor!
