Jackson Ryland and Max D return as Superabundance for new album on Future Times: Listen

11 cuts of razor-sharp breaks and techno improvisations

Premiere: Superabundance ‘Sizeable Jackfruit’

Washington, DC’s Jackson Ryland and Max D will release a new album, ‘Extrasolar’, under their collaborative Superabundance alias next week. Listen to it below.

Set for release via Max D’s ever-reliable Future Times label, the pair follow up their 2021 self-titled album with 11 tracks of razor-sharp breaks and funk-fuelled techno improvisations. These tracks erupt, shatter and sear without much ceremony – they’re dancefloor fuse-lighters through and through. But ‘Extrasolar’ is not without its moments of bliss either. Opening track, ‘Reset’, pours glittery synth syrup over acid-singed drums; ‘Perplexion’, ‘Crossfade Diving’ and ‘Dex Holo’ are early-morning jungle rollers with the edges left coarse and hallucinatory. ‘Goth Hi Tek’ ends things on a skippy, day-glo house flourish, its analogue bass pulse sticking to the synapses and tickling the chest right into the album’s final seconds.

Elsewhere, ‘Sizeable Jackfruit’ captures Superabundance at their rowdiest, all jacking drums and squelching distortion. Deep in the dance headfuckery of the highest order.

‘Extrasolar’ will be released on Friday 6th October. Pre-order it here.
