Diffrent Music is releasing a new compilation after a short hiatus, ‘Revolution Of The Giraffe’, featuring a host of experimental drum & bass artists. Have an exclusive first listen to A.Fruit's remix of Dexta & Hyroglifics' ‘Boxgroove' below.

The Dexta-founded imprint roars back into life with 17 cuts of exploratory drum & bass artillery from the outer perimeters of the genre. Out 22nd September, ‘Revolution Of The Giraffe’ calls on a selection of linchpins from the label’s history alongside new-gen producers courting sonic change and originality.

“This compilation album signposts where we are at — a bunch of classic Diffrent artists, a load of new faces, and a few remixes thrown in for good measure,” said Dexta. “Each tune stands alone, but stands tall next to each of its siblings. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we have! The revolution is here, join the revolution!”

BrandNewTrumpets & Macc lay the groundwork with the eccentric ‘We Are The Tightrope Walkers’, where spoken word poetry gives way to punishing breaks, while nine years after debuting on the label, Arkaik teams up with Fearful and Dexta to wreak percussive havoc on ‘Old Skool (ft MC GQ)'.

Elsewhere, Moscow-born, Barcelona-based producer A.Fruit debuts on Diffrent with a buckling halftime rework of Dexta & Hyroglifics’ ‘Boxgroove’, complete with ominous, brooding growls and sludgy bassweight, and Eusebeia joins the fam with an celestial take on Crypticz’s ‘Could Have Been’.

A smattering of dancefloor heavy-hitters round out the comp, including frenetic, hi-tek junglism from Nation, Sheba Q & BK Balance on ‘Too Late’, and Dexta’s own ‘Giraffes on Acid’, which darts between squelchy techno and animalistic, jungle grit. A fitting reintroduction to one of the UK’s most adventurous d&b imprints.

‘Revolution Of The Giraffe’ is available to pre-order exclusively via Bandcamp, which will include four early downloads before release day. Listen to ‘Boxgroove (A.Fruit Remix)’ below.
