Kasra V & Sepehr will release a new EP, ‘Do’, under their collaborative Flower Storm alias next month. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Against wild lions’ below.

Continuing on their mission to merge club music with influences from their Iranian heritage, the duo return to their eponymous imprint with the successor to May 2023's debut EP, ‘Yek’.

Across five cuts of mythical club music, Flower Storm – named after a 1972 animation by surrealist painter Ali Akbar Sadeghi – transfigure traditional folk percussion including the tonbak (goblet drum) and santoor (a type of zither), alongside smouldering underground electronics.

Opener ‘The first trial’ finds the duo reimagining Coil’s ‘Further Back and Faster’ through a trippy Iranian lens, with deep sub-bass frequencies and a sleazy midtempo pulse, while ‘Against wild lions’ ventures into dubbier domains with a chugging low-end and gated Iranian vocal.

“‘Against wild lions’ is one of our earliest creations as Flower Storm, it’s straight to the point and features all our signatures,” the duo shared of the track.

Kasra V & Sepehr have also announced they will be producing 10 dubplates of exclusive and unreleased versions of tracks featured on their first two releases. ‘Do O Nim’ will be available for purchase via Bandcamp on March 4th.

2023 also marked a big year for the pair’s solo careers, with Kasra V dropping a new EP, ‘Flood the Club’, on Sepehr’s Shaytoon Records, while the label head shared his latest 11-track album, ‘Pomegranate Skies’, on naff recordings.

‘Do’ is out 2nd February. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Against wild lions’ below.
