Premiere: Laura BCR ‘Afterhour’

Laura BCR will release a new EP, ‘How Do I Get To Know You’, later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Afterhour’ below. 

The Paris-born, Rotterdam-based DJ and producer follows up her ‘Human Behaviour’ EP, released earlier this year for Live At Robert Johnson, with a rapturous suite of ambient-infused techno. Out 15th December, the six-track project marks her first for Dutch label Konstrukt, and evokes Voices From The Lake with its syncretic blend of spacey gurgles and deep, tactile synthwork.

Starting with the twitching and nervy opener, ‘Metres’, Laura BCR plunges us into a hypnotic abyss, guided only by lasers, subaquatic strobes, and eerie sub-bass frequencies. Though the beats get warmer and bubblier as the EP progresses – with radiant, synth melodies echoing against ambient chimes on cuts like ‘Afterhour’ and ‘Nostalgia’ – the On Board Music honcho masterfully sews soundscapes that blur the line between reality and imagination.

‘How Do I Get To Know You’ is out via Konstrukt on 15th December, following recent releases on the imprint from the likes of Neel, Grand River, Tin Man, DJ Sodeyama and more.
