The Avalanches cancel 2022 North America tour due to "serious illness"

The Avalanches' current tour of North America has been scrapped midway through the run of dates.

Announcing the news on social media, the duo said the eight remaining shows of the US and Canada tour were being cancelled due to "serious illness".

Their full statement about the tour's cancellation read: "Unfortunately due to serious illness, we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel our remaining US and Canadian shows to return home. Thank you to everyone who has made this tour so joyous, and apologies to everyone who had tickets for the remaining shows. All ticket holders will be contacted directly with refund details. Thank you."

The tour, which the duo headed out on in support of 2020's 'We Will Always Love You' LP, had originally been due to take place in February and March of this year but was postponed "due to ongoing personal health issues".

Last year, the duo marked the 20th anniversary of their classic album 'Since I Left You' with a deluxe edition reissue of the record. Revisit DJ Mag's 2021 feature on the album and its legacy here.
