The BPM Festival will not be held in Playa del Carmen again

The local Solidaridad City Council reportedly unveiled the news in a press conference earlier today...

The BPM Festival will reportedly not be held in Playa del Carmen again, following the tragic shootings at the event’s Elrow closing party at the Blue Parrot nightclub in the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday 16th January).

Mexican news source La Jornada Maya reports that local Solidaridad City Council met today, and at a press conference following the meeting announced that no more The BPM Festival events will take place in Playa del Carmen as a precaution to stop tragedies like the one earlier this week.

The meeting is said to have consisted of Solidaridad municipal president Cristina Torres Gómez, the Business Coordinating Council of the Riviera Maya and the representatives of the various chambers that comprise it, who agreed events like the shootings at The BPM Festival drives away investment from entrepreneurs.

Earlier this month The BPM Festival revealed it would be launching new editions in Brazil and Portugal later this year.
