DJ Minx releases new single, ‘D-Town’, via relaunched Women On Wax: Listen
It comes with remixes by Inner City and Byron The Aquarius
DJ Minx has shared a brand new single, ‘D-Town’, on her own Women On Wax label. Check it out below.
Out today (11th August), the track is an ode to the Detroit house and techno legend's hometown, marking the first release on her seminal Women On Wax label since its relaunch in June.
"I've found my musical style and I'm delivering another round of it to you in this release. I was born and raised in the D, and we are family all around this city,” shared DJ Minx on the track. “I created D Town, for my love of Detroit, the people, its history and culture. I hope you feel it like I do.”
The single arrives alongside two remixes — one from legendary Detroit trio Inner City and the other from Atlanta’s Byron The Aquarius. On release day, Minx will be celebrating by playing a headline set at the Detroit grassroots house and techno festival Charivari, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary with this year’s edition.
In June, legendary DJ announced the official return of her Women On Wax label (which first released music in 2001) with a compilation celebrating “vastly underrated & underappreciated artists” in queer North American dance music. ‘Queendom Vol. 1’ features appearances from Shaun J. Wright, Nita Aviance, Sydney Blu, DJ Cent, and Debbie Graham, alongside DJ Minx herself.
