Kate Bush breaks three Guinness World Records with 'Running Up That Hill'

With Kate Bush's 1985 hit 'Running Up That Hill' currently enjoying a resurgence thanks to its use in the latest season of Stranger Things, she has now broken three Guinness World Records.

Following the track's return to the top of the UK's Official Singles Chart, thanks to a surge in streaming and downloads of the track, Bush is now the oldest female artist to reach No.1 in the Official Singles Chart.

With the track having originally peaked at No.3 in the UK upon its 1985 release, it's newfound position at the summit of the chart also makes it the longest time a track has taken to reach the No.1 spot of the chart, and Bush also has the longest gap between No. 1 singles on the Official Singles Chart. Her last No.1 single came in 1978 with debut single 'Wuthering Heights' spending four weeks at the top of the UK chart.

The track had previously enjoyed a UK chart resurgence in 2012 when it climbed back up to No. 6 after featuring during the closing ceremony of the London Olympics, but its use in Stranger Things has taken it to even greater heights.

In a series of statements since the resurgence of 'Running Up That Hill' this month, the usually reclusive Bush has spoken of how the 'Stranger Things' feature has given the track "a whole new lease of life". She also recently appeared on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour show for a rare radio interview about the track's recent success.
