At least 29 dead after fire at Istanbul's Masquerade Club
Police have reportedly taken in five people for questioning in connection with the fire
An investigation is underway after a fire at Istanbul's Masquerade Club left at least 29 people dead, with several more injured.
The fire broke out just after midday on Tuesday (2nd April) in the 1000-capacity nightclub, which is located on the ground floor and basement of a 16-storey residential building in the Gayrettepe district of the Turkish city, according to the BBC.
The club was shut due to renovation works scheduled to take place in the building, with the victims reported to have been construction workers. No cause behind the blaze has been confirmed as yet.
Police have since taken in five people for questioning, including those involved with managing the club and the building renovations, according to justice minister Yilmaz Tunc.
As Sky News reports, at least one person has been admitted to hospital, according to a statement from the Istanbul governor's office.
