Bákayan will release his new EP, ‘Fireflies’, this Friday. Have an exclusive first listen to opening track ‘Breathe’ below.

The Berlin-based Turkish producer follows up December’s ‘Neowl’ EP on Elif’s Marginalia imprint, with three cuts of enveloping melodic house inspired by the sight of fireflies in the mountains of Turkey. Out via Stil vor Talent imprint – Berlin’s haven for mystical club sounds – the project channels Bákayan’s South Eastern roots with multi-layered percussion and deeper-than-deep melodic textures, creating a backdrop for his smoky, introspective vocals.

‘Breathe’ opens the EP on a floaty house tip, with hypnotic minor keys, humid atmospheres, and the kind of ear-worming hook that melodic maestro Oliver Koletzki – of whom Bákayan describes himself as a “huge fan” – would be proud of.

“From the outset, these tracks were crafted with Stil vor Talent [of which Koletzki founded] in mind—a label that I've held in high regard since the inception of my electronic music journey in 2018,” the producer shared on the alliance. “My goal was to grasp the essence of the Stil vor Talent family and I’m super excited to finally share this release with the world.”

‘Fireflies’ is out 12th January via Stil vor Talent. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Breathe’ below.
