A new documentary explores the life and musical journey of Afro house DJ Kitty Amor.

Sub-titled A Story About Identity and Expression, Who's Kitty Amor? is a new, 22-minute film charting the trailblazing DJ's story so far.

Produced by Defected Records, and directed and edited by Maik Diederen, the documentary traces Kitty's South London upbringing and formative clubbing years in Nottingham University en route to international DJ success.

Premiered on YouTube on 15th September, the film can be watched in full below.

As well as exploring Kitty's career to date, the film also delves into the challenges that she faced coming out as part of the LGBTQI+ community. Speaking about the film, Kitty said: “This has been a very emotional experience for me. For the first time I have allowed myself to be vulnerable and walk through my journey within music through an unfiltered lens. From discussing my family upbringing, my time in university, navigating the underground music scene in London and rising to being an impactful artist and voice for African electronic music worldwide. I am honoured to share my story for those to truly know who Kitty Amor is.”

Maik Diederen added: “I have immense respect for Kitty and her journey. It is powerful to see her using her voice to share her story so openly and honestly. Through this documentary, I hope that people will find inspiration and courage by witnessing Kitty's journey."
