New record store opens in east London

Kristina Records has returned to east London with a new store on Well Street...

A new record store has opened in east London.

Having been based in a DIY space in Tottenham for the last year, Kristina Records has re-launched with a new store in Hackney. The store closed their Stoke Newington store last year, before moving temporarily to The Cause in Tottenham.

Posting on Facebook, organisers said, "The walls are bare, the plant needs some TLC and there’s still plenty more we need to do, but there’s records in the racks and a couple of speakers plugged in so we’re good to go for now!

"Feels great to be back on the high street after a longer hiatus up at The Cause than we initially planned," they continued. "Huge, huge thank you to The Cause and all the team there for putting us up while we pulled all this together. Can’t speak highly enough of all involved in that project. Next chapter for KR starts here. 194 Well Street, E9 6QT. Come check out the new spaceship. Opening party details coming soon... x"

The return of the store was announced last month.

Toronto record store Invisible City is to shut its physical address “indefinitely”.

Vinyl sales increased fivefold in the period from 2013 to the end of 2018.
