Toronto record store Invisible City to shut “indefinitely”

But the Invisible City Editions label and shop will still operate online...

Toronto record store Invisible City is to shut its physical address “indefinitely”.

A statement sent to the retailer and label's email subscribers today explained the shop will continue to operate online while searching for new premises, citing differences with the business it shared its old address with as cause of the move.

Invisible City— which specialises in funk, disco and soul— opened for business late-2016 as an offshoot of the acclaimed reissue imprint, Invisible City Editions.

This is the first store closure we have reported on in recent times, which have been dominated by prominent new openings. Berlin institution Griessmuehle announced plans to launch a shop near the venue in February, March saw news that a pair of stores were opening in Brooklyn, with Paris also expanding its offering.
