Notorious B.I.G., Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, more inducted into Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Over 500 music industry figures cast their vote

Acts including Depeche Mode, Notorious BIG and Nine Inch Nails have been inducted into Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

Following a vote by over 500 music industry figures, a 16-strong longlist was whittled down to six acts. The Doobie Brothers, T. Rex and Whitney Houston will also be honoured at the annual awards in Ohio, in May.

Nine Inch Nails main man Trent Reznor said, "When I look back at how Nine Inch Nails are received, it always seems like we fall between the cracks. I don’t know if it’s a defence mechanism, but I just assumed we’d stay in that category, so I’m pleasantly surprised to see us acknowledged.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation was founded in 1983 by Ahmet Ertegun, founder and chairman of Atlantic Records.

Artists are eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first album.
