Rihanna and A$AP Rocky named their son after Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA
The revelation came on the day of the child's 1st birthday
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky named their firstborn son after Wu-Tang Clan's RZA.
According to Pitchfork, the pair named their son RZA Athelston Mayers after the hip-hop legend, born Robert Fitzgerald Diggs. Rocky, himself whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers, was named after the rapper Rakim. His sister, Erika, was named in honour of Eric B.
Born on 13th May 2022, Rihanna and Rocky's child's name was not revealed until Saturday, 13th May 2023, when Rocky shared the following via Instagram: "‘WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN’ HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN . RZA"
Last April, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky reportedly threw a private rave-themed baby shower for RZA. A month later, Rihanna starred in the video for Rocky's 'D.M.B.'
The baby name revelation comes two months after it was announced Wu-Tang Clan and Nas were teaming up for a joint global tour. The former hip-hop trailblazers will also headline this year's EXIT Festival in Serbia.
Last month, it was announced that Rihanna would voice Smurfette in the upcoming Smurfs movie by Paramount Animation.
