Robert Hood and Femi Kuti are releasing a live album, titled 'Variations', next month. Listen to the opening piece below.

The Detroit techno pioneer and Afrobeat legacy artist came together in November 2019 for a performance to pay tribute to the late James Brown as part of La Compagnie des Indes and Sourdoreille 'Variations' live series for France TV. Recorded in one 30-minute take with Hood on synthesisers and drum machines and Kuti on saxophone, the seven-part 'Variations' will be available on vinyl, CD and digital platforms from 8th December.

"It is so amazing when a vision comes to fruition", Robert Hood said in a press statement. "I enjoyed collaborating with the legendary Femi Kuti for this special project."

Robert Hood recently reissued his seminal 1993 LP 'Waveform Transmission Vol. 2' on Tresor to mark its 30th anniversary. Floorplan, his project with daughter Lyric Hood, released the 'The Curse Breaker / What You Need' EP back in September.

In 2021, the Underground Resistance co-founder and M-Plant label head released an album and EP under his Monobox alias called 'Regenerate' and 'Forwardbase Kodai', respectively, and the 'Mirror Man' LP in 2020.
