FIRST LISTEN: TYDI WILL 'DIE WITHOUT YOU' FANS

DJ Mag premieres the tune off tyDi's 'Redefined' LP out September 30.

A note from tyDi about the following premiere:

"So without getting too deep here... Ok f*ck it there's no way I can tell this story without getting deep. 'Die Without You' is probably the least fictional song on my album Redefined - and that says a lot when nearly all of the stories are about (or inspired by) events in the last three years of my life. 'Die Without You' came out during a pretty dark time, the story is full of revenge, fear, anger and strength. And I'm sure by now you can tell that this one may have been written during the 'not so exciting' riddles of a complicated love story. I wrote it when I was back living in Australia, maybe a year before I moved to LA. It was a powerful co-write with my friend BC Jean who is an undeniable talent, her writing skills and incredible voice are a perfect match for the story we told through this song. BC flew out from LA all the way across the pacific ocean to work on this one with me. Armed with a keyboard and a few bottles of red wine we got started on what was to eventually be one of my favorite songs on the album. The opening verse of this song depicts the more introverted and insecure sides to this twisted tale.

"If I die, would you remember everything that I said? Could you live without a single regret? Should you wipe away our memories, then just leave and frame it like it's all in my head - you threw a knife straight through the light, it hits my back but I'm still alive, I didn't think that I'd survive but here I am.

"Right, so here we are, the story has taken off and it's pretty obvious what everything's about. But then the song takes a sudden twist... I can be without you, breathe without you, I can sleep without you.. DIE Without You. Our 'fictional' character has some confidence, maybe even a little too much? It's amazing what a few bottles of red wine can bring out in a person.

"BC and I recorded the song on the same night we wrote it, and since then it stayed hidden away for a long time. Almost a year later I looked over my collection of work for the album and this one just brought memories flooding back. By then I'd been introduced to Mark (Silas) who's an incredible producer, he's into that more 'bass driven' genre of electronica and I knew straight away this would be a killer collab with him. The end result is intense. It's dark as hell, empowering, and insanely over produced (in the best kind of way). I'm very proud of this record and the incredible talent who helped join me in telling the story."
