Stevie R & CERPINTXT will release their new collaborative EP on Chapter 24 tomorrow 21st September.
Two driving, charismatic original cuts, ‘Madilo’ and ‘Red Lemon’ make this an EP that is immediately striking and one that will result in many a stand-out moment on the dancefloor. It’s certainly already been doing so, having been given the Andrew Weatherall seal when he refered to the tracks as “a right pair of dirty shunters!"
His current release ‘Barranquilla Trifle’ on Future Boogie Recordings is the kind of disco-kissed techy wonderfulness that we love him for, and the finishing touches are being put to ‘We We We’, his label’s first compilation, coming out early next month via two vinyl samplers and Bandcamp. “It’s ended up being 25 tracks long, with all the proceeds going to Help Refugees,” he begins to explain. These are his formative tunes...
Man Power AKA Geoff Kirkwood has been gradually carving a name for himself as one of house music’s most prolific names. Based in Mexico but hailing from North East England, he has spent the past number of years building a reputation as a producer of intoxicating electronics from downtempo balearic wobblers to hectic, flamboyant house.
And it’s those styles that he has championed through his fast-rising Me Me Me imprint, clocking releases from the likes of Red Axes, DJ Tennis, Rex The Dog and more.
A party in aid of Help Refugees is taking place in London this Easter weekend, at Mick's Garage in Hackney.
The event, happening this Friday 19th April, is a collaboration between Choose Love and Dance for Refuge, with all profits from the night going to Help Refugees. Man Power, Brassica and Field Maneuvres resident Iona are among the DJs locked in for the night.
Earlier this year, Geoff Kirkwood revealed himself to be the producer behind the anonymous alias Man Power. The decision to unmask himself was a welcome one, finally putting to an end the guessing games that were threatening to overshadow the project. Kirkwood’s music is good enough to stand on its own without all the smoke and mirrors.
In the past year, the Berlin-based producer has put out two excellent EPs on Throne of Blood and Not An Animal Records. He’s bringing 2015 to a close with one final release, ‘Ruthven’, for London’s Voyeurhythm.
