2018 has been a huge year for electronic music.
Few things can set a dancefloor on fire better than an upbeat piano hook and a vocal that makes you want to hug your mates and yell as loud as your lungs will allow. This latest summertime smash from Weiss does just that and then some.
HAAi’s Phonox residency more than proved that she can keep a dancefloor transfixed. Her 'Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik’ EP shows she has buckets of production talent too, and this rebellious number, with its anarchistic drums and Taigen Kawabe's amplified vox demands repeat plays.
Krystal Klear’s ‘Neutron Dance’ has, without any shadow of a doubt, been one of the biggest tracks of the year. A ubiquitous festival staple with an uplifting melodic hook, if you haven’t heard it... Where the heck have you been hiding?
Originally released on Running Back, the Irish-born, NYC-based producer’s breakthrough hit has now gotten the remix treatment from some suitably esteemed acts, namely Gerd Janson, Mano Le Tough, Paul Woolford and Fango.
Since moving to New York just over a year ago, Krystal Klear’s creativity, passion and vision is stronger than ever. The Irish DJ, producer and label owner (real name Declan Lennon) is thriving in arguably America’s most romantic city, spurred on by his new hometown’s melting pot of influences, sounds and cultures. He’s also just dropped a brand-new remix packet for his summer smash ‘Neutron Dance’, which features re-rubs from Paul Woolford, Mano Le Tough and Gerd Janson.
So you moved because you felt you needed a challenge?
“Cold Tonic is like an art project for me. If making money from Cold Tonic was my agenda, trust me, I’d do it in a very different way"
You founded your own label, Cold Tonic, and also released the first track on it, ‘Squad’. Why did you decide to do the label?
Krystal Klear is an artist on the rise. He's released on All City Records, Rinse, Eglo, MadTech, and Cold Tonic, alongside curating his monthly show on Rinse FM and DJing some of the best clubs around the globe.
From his roots in Dublin to attending the star-studded Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid, Krystal Klear’s signature productions blend early-days NYC dance music with a forward-thinking sensibility — in short, this man makes music for the floor!
The EP, aptly titled 'Old Cuts', features unreleased old cuts. Featuring a much sought-after dub 'BeastMode' (featured in Will Saul's Essential Mix) and a top secret version of his Donna Summer remix — we highly recommend that one!
