Daft Punk leak new track online, Redditors claim
Could it be true...?
Daft Punk have leaked a new track online — or so claim Reddit users.
Rumours were swirling on the popular online forum of a supposed Daft Punk track posted to SoundCloud earlier this week. The track in question is a 17-second snippet called ‘x’, the only upload hosted by SoundCloud user User19972001200420132019.
While the song does bear heavy similarities to past official Daft Punk music — with heavy robotic vocoders and electro-tinged synths — Redditors on the r/daftpunk subreddit were debating its authenticity.
The new supposed Daft Punk track is the latest in a long line of Reddit rumours and online hearsay surrounding the French robot duo. Most recently, Reddit users claimed to have cracked a hidden code said to reveal deadmau5, Daft Punk and the long-awaited reunion of Swedish House Mafia as the three secret headliners for Ultra Music Festival’s 20th-anniversary show this weekend. The latter rumour was recently debunked when the festival revealed its full 2018 schedule without those artists confirmed.
Last year, reports surfaced of a supposed secret Daft Punk set at Burning Man in addition to rumoured plans for a “major” 2017 tour and gossip surrounding an Alive 2017 tour.
