Black Artist Database launch free music production masterclass series

Loraine James, rRoxymore, Russell E.L. Butler, and KMRU are all involved

Black Artist Database (B.A.D.) has launched a series of free production masterclasses for aspiring Black artists, in association with Ableton.

The series will run through to winter 2021, and involves a number of highly respected studio heads. Namely Loraine James (24th August), Russell E.L. Butler (18th September), KMRU (26th October), and rRoxymore (23rd November). Subjects include turning studio productions into live performance, bus processing, and field recording as a compositional tool.

All sessions will be delivered via Zoom and run for between 60 and 90 minutes, allowing time for audience questions. In total, there are 300 spaces up for grabs, all of which are allocated free on a first-come-first-served basis. Anyone who identifies as racially or ethnically Black is encouraged to register.

"Ableton is honoured to support the Black Artist Database Masterclass series. Niks and the team have worked tirelessly to bring Black owned record labels, artists, producers and bands to the forefront of the electronic music community and beyond," said Shona MacMillan, Ableton’s UK and Ireland Brand Manager. "We leapt at the opportunity to aid B.A.D to continue making a strong impact and focusing on diversity in the music industry."
