Hessle Audio announces new EP from Jordanian producer Toumba

'Petals' lands on 3rd February 2023

Toumba Hessle Audio

Hessle Audio has announced a new EP from Jordanian producer Toumba.

'Petals' will be released on 3rd February 2023. You can listen to the first track, 'Istibtan', below.

Based in the Jordanian capital, Amman, Toumba is a DJ, studio head, sound designer and the curator of MNFA — a club and arts space in the city. An associated foundation also focuses on providing a platform for creative research and critical discourse. Learn more about the operation on Instagram. The release on 'Petals' follows the artist's recent EP for new London label Hypnic Jerks, which you can check out here

The forthcoming record comprises four tracks, and takes in a multitude of styles, timbres and percussive rhythms. The release explores  Levantine microtonality, utilises a heavy sense of swing unique to southern Jordan's music scene, and presents a deconstructed take on Dabkeh, a type of folk dance often performed at weddings in the region.
