Max Cooper announces new album, ‘Yearning For The Infinite’

The project has been commissioned by the Barbican

Revered producer Max Cooper will release his new album alongside a live A/V performance at London's Barbican Centre.

The 'Yearning for the Infinite' performance, set to take place on the 28th September, was commissioned by the Barbican as the immersive, A/V experience for this year's emergent technologies theme, 'Life Rewired'.

"I wanted to take the whole idea of human progress, growth in technology and the data explosion etc, and boil it down to its essence, our seemingly endless desire to move forwards somehow, as individuals and as a species," Cooper said of the project, "Our yearning for the infinite as a system for creating goals that can never be reached, as a means for creating an endless source of meaning in our lives, because what would you do if you had nothing left to do!?"

The accompanying album, which promises to be Cooper's most expansive work to date, will be released on the 7th November via his own Mesh imprint.

Comprised of 14 original productions, the album features collaborations with Scottish folk musician James Yorkston, singer Alison Moyet and Six Sigma.

Listen to the first single to be shared from the album, 'Perpetual Motion'.
