The Backstreet Boys want Diplo, Steve Aoki or Zedd to produce their 10th album

The Chainsmokers are also on their wishlist...

The Backstreet Boys are set to return with a new album on RCA and want Major Lazer’s Diplo to produce the record.

They revealed the news in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, also mentioning they’re keen for Steve Aoki, Zedd or even The Chainsmokers to get involved on the LP.

“We’re reaching out to people who we were always inspired by or who may have been fans and we didn’t even know,”band member AJ McLean told ET.

“We’ve all made friends with different people. Nick’s been talking to Steve Aoki, Howie talked to Zedd, who’s been a big, big fan [and] Diplo, we’ve also talked to. We’ve also done stuff with The Chainsmokers and those guys are amazing and out in Vegas with a residency as well, so who knows.”

It’s not the first bizarre run-in Diplo’s had with popstars of late. Earlier this month, news surfaced that Rihanna once described his music as "airport reggae", while the Mad Decent founder famously deleted Justin Bieber's vocals off his track 'Bank Roll' back in May.

Diplo is tipped to be working with fellow super-producer Mark Ronson on a disco album at the moment, aswell as continuing to oversee his Viceland spoof show, 'What Would Diplo Do'.
