London’s former public toilet nightclub, Public Life, is set to reopen as The Warmer Room, as Mixmag reports.
The 80-capacity Shoreditch venue will reopen as The Warmer Room with a launch party on 4th November organised by London promoter The Warmer People, aka Thom Grant, Nathan Colinet and Giacomo Giraldi. Leo Pol will headline the relaunch while future club nights will operate on a monthly basis.
“It’s got this very Victorian look complete with a Funktion One Soundsystem,” Grant told Mixmag, explaining that the trio plan to keep the venue "the same as before, but with a new generation of DJs. We want to keep it inclusive, create an enjoyable atmosphere, and do it all in a cool location".
Public Life had its license revoked in 2012 by Tower Hamlets Council. Jamie Jones, Anja Schneider, Richie Hawtin, Dax J and Anna Wall all played at the iconic club, with Perc's Lost Souls also holding a residency.
The reopening follows the news that one in five UK nightclubs have shut since the pandemic hit in early 2020, according to a report from the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) completed with figures from the CGA. The NTIA shared new research revealing that in March 2020 there were 1,418 clubs in the UK, which has decreased by 20% to 1,130 in 2022.
The RSVP for the opening event has now closed but check back for future events.
